Who is Margaret Holmes? Where did the company name come from?
In 1985, David Holmes sold his canning operation in Georgia to McCall Farms. Margaret Holmes was the name of his brand, named after his mother. You can read more about the history of McCall Farms here.
Where are you located?

We are located in the town of Effingham in the beautiful state of South Carolina!

Where are Margaret Holmes vegetables grown?

All of our products and ingredients are grown here in the United States. We are committed to working with local farms as much as possible. As a result, 80% of our produce comes from farms located within 150 miles of our canning facility. The remaining 20% comes from other reputable growers throughout the United States.

You should be able to find your favorite Margaret Holmes product using our product locator. To find the retailer closest to you, simply select the product you are looking for and click ‘locate product now.
Why isn’t my favorite Margaret Holmes product at my local store?
We would love to make every Margaret Holmes product available in every store, nation wide! However, this decision is not made by us, but by individual retail stores. If you can’t find a Margaret Holmes product in your favorite grocery store, we suggest you talk to that store manager and ask that they stock the product for you and your friends and family to enjoy. Alternatively, you can order selected items online here.

Do your cans contain Bisphenol A (BPA)?:

Some of our products have been manufactured in cans with liners that contain BPA. We are, however, confident in the safety of these food items. With that said, we appreciate the fact that some consumers are concerned about this issue and therefore have worked to discontinue the use of added BPA. Any Margaret Holmes products that have an expiration date on or after October 2019 do not contain BPA.

Are your products Gluten Free?

Gluten is a protein found in wheat and grains such as wheat, barley and rye. The main medical reason people are pursuing a Gluten Free diet is due to Celiac Disease. None of our products contain Gluten.

Other than Gluten, are there any other allergens in your products?
We do produce Peanut Patch Boiled Peanuts at our facilities, so we do advise that those individuals with severe peanut allergies not consume our products.
I have a recipe suggestion, where do I go?
We invite everyone to share their favorite recipe using their favorite Margaret Holmes products. Simply go to our recipe pageand click on the “Add Recipe” button found in the “Share your Recipe.” section. We will review all recipe ideas and let you know if yours is selected to appear on our website. If your recipe is selected to appear on our website, we will make sure to credit you for the recipe (unless you prefer to remain anonymous).
How long does a can of product keep before expiring?

 All of our Margaret Holmes products has an expiration date stamped on either the top or the bottom of the can. We do not recommend consuming any product after the expiration date.

After I open the can, how long can I store it?
Once you’ve opened the product, if you do not use all of the contents of the can we recommend you place the remainder in a sealed container and refrigerate for no more than two or three days.
